FY19 Accomplishments & Season Highlights

M&F is thrilled to have ended the 2018-19 school year on a very strong note. This past school year, we reached a record number of 81 public schools and over 17,000 students across NYC. We have expanded the impact of our programs through significant budget growth and the development of new school partnerships. M&F has successfully balanced our artistic and programmatic vision with our financial resources for the past six years. As part of our strong fiscal management, M&F, for two years in a row received the highly coveted 4-Star rating on Charity Navigator. Attaining a 4-star rating, the highest possible score, verifies that we exceed industry standards and outperform most charities in our area of work.

We are also thrilled to have hosted a very successful “Making Music and Building Futures” gala which honored Peter M. Glaser that took place on Tuesday, May 21st at the New-York Historical Society. From the opening notes of Shostakovich’s “Waltz No. 2” by Celia Cruz High School, and the solo spotlight performances featuring four M&F alumni students, to the poignant finale performance of “I’ll Cover You” led by renowned Broadway star Brandon Victor Dixon, our Gala showcased the heart and soul of our organization—our young musicians.
