A Musical Journey Around the World – Without Leaving Your School

K-12

The Passport Series brings the world's cultural and traditional arts into schools through immersive, hands-on workshops.

  • Journey to Japan

  • Adventures in Africa

  • Let's Go Latin America

  • Connections to China

Our dynamic Journey to Japan program brings hands-on workshops in music, art, and dance directly to your school. Students of all ages explore cultural traditions learning directly from expert teaching artists who bring both cultural knowledge and creative inspiration. Whether it’s the powerful beat of taiko drums or the delicate precision of origami, this program nurtures focus, creativity, and appreciation for Japanese heritage.

Connections to China

Connections to China brings the rich art, music, and culture of China directly into New York City schools. Through live performances through difference eras and regions of China, engaging workshops, and storytelling, students explore the traditions and contemporary life of Chinese communities as a living culture with deep ties to our own city. The program invites students to see themselves in the stories and creative expressions of others, fostering curiosity, empathy, and a genuine sense of connection. Connections to China reflects Midori & Friends' belief that art and music are among the most powerful tools we have for building understanding across communities.

Adventures in Africa

From the pulse of the djembe to the artistry of hand-crafted instruments and the magic of griot storytelling, Adventures in West Africa brings the heart of West Africa directly into your classroom. Students explore the music, dance, visual arts, and food traditions of the region through hands-on workshops led by expert teaching artists. Each session is designed to spark curiosity, build community, and celebrate the diversity and richness of West African culture. Students leave every workshop with a new skill, a take-home creation, and a deeper connection to the world around them.

"Let's Go Latin America!" invites K-12 students on a vibrant, hands-on journey through the rich cultures of Latin America β€” from Latin rhythms to the vibrant colors of traditional Latin American crafts. Through a five-part master class series, students will sing, dance, cook, and create alongside teaching artists who bring these living traditions to life. The program will include a full-school assembly concert that unites the entire community in celebration of Latin American music and culture. Designed to inspire curiosity and deepen cultural understanding, Let's Go Latin America! connects young learners to a world of creativity, history, and joy β€” right in their own school.
