Bringing the Heart of Japan to Your Classroom
Our dynamic Journey to Japan program brings hands-on workshops in music, art, and dance directly to your school. Students of all ages explore cultural traditions learning directly from expert teaching artists who bring both cultural knowledge and creative inspiration. Whether it’s the powerful beat of taiko drums or the delicate precision of origami, this program nurtures focus, creativity, and appreciation for Japanese heritage.
Program Overview
Journey to Japan is a catalyst for connection, community, and cross-cultural appreciation.
Interactive, multidisciplinary workshops tailored to all grade levels
Expert teaching artists who share both skill and cultural context
Engaging, take-home creations that connect classroom learning to family life
Residencies are available for up to 20 weeks and can be tailored to meet your school’s schedule, curriculum goals, or offered as stand-alone workshops.
Hands-on offerings include:
Taiko Drumming: Experience the energy of ensemble drumming, developing rhythm, teamwork, and focus
Origami: Traditional paper-folding art; students create and take home their own designs
Calligraphy: Explore brush technique, symbolism, and expressive writing
Ikebana: Learn the Japanese art of flower arrangement, blending nature and design
Japanese Folk Dance: Move with purpose through cultural dance traditions that foster community
Onigiri: Discover food culture and hands-on culinary fun by making rice balls
Concert & Workshops: Culminating performances or interactive assemblies available
