In 2006–07, with a generous grant from Bank of America, Midori & Friends piloted a new project called Explore-A-Door. Consisting of a large cabinet filled with small instruments, books about music and musicians, as well as CDs, and other educational tools, Explore-A-Door is designed to link music and literacy through stimulating activities that build musical knowledge and motivate interest in reading and writing. Explore-A-Door includes Professional Development for classroom teachers on innovative ways of integrating Explore-A-Door into their language arts curriculum.
