Dear Ms. Alicia,
Thank you for teaching us music. You are the best music teacher I ever had.
—1st grade student, P.S. 91, Queens

These introductory classroom-based program for kindergarten through second graders provides fresh and fun activities designed to teach the basic elements of music. In these long-term residencies, students explore musical expression, timbre, pitch, and rhythm and use traditional and non-traditional notation to create original songs and compositions. Singing is a vital part of both First Adventures in Sound and Adventures in Sound program, and Teaching Artists work with classroom teacher both prior to and during the residencies to discover ways singing and song can enhance academic curricula, promote literacy, and develop social and personal skills. First Adventures in Sound is designed to specifically meet the needs of kindergarten children.
