A year ago, she knew nothing about Tchaikovsky, and now she is playing one of his musical pieces and enjoying music. I am grateful that Midori & Friends was initiated so children throughout New York City could welcome music into their lives.

Adventures in Making Music provides skills-based instrumental and vocal instruction to students. Through long-term residency programs, children learn to sing or play violin, cello, flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, or percussion in small group lessons that meet twice weekly. At the completion of a Making Music residency, students are able to read music, play melodies, and explore their own creative, expressive styles. We also offer after-school bands and small ensembles, as well as opportunities for students to create original compositions.
